Remarkable history was made recently at the tenth Floor, Federal Secretariat Complex, Central Business District Abuja, the citadel office headquarters of the Nigeria’s Six regions, the Ministry of Regional Development, when relevant stakeholders in the solid minerals Industry led by the National President of the Association of Solid Minerals Miners and Marketers of Nigeria (ASMMMON) Dr. Vincent Mkpu engaged with the Permanent Secretary Dr. Mary Ada Ogbe in a strategic roadmap capable of transforming the Nigeria regions through a Strategic Public Private Partnership (PPP) framework led by ASMMMON in collaboration with the Ministries of Regional Development and Federal Ministry of Solid minerals Development, other relevant agencies and stakeholders into a big, productive, and globally competitive economy.
Recognizing the unique and abundant Soid Minerals deposits located at each region, the blueprint seeks to reposition every region to pursue a robust economic goal, relevant to the region, for a competitive drive that will crystalize into economic revolution through diversification, industrialization and sustainable development
Dr. Vincent Mkpu therefore urged for a strong collaboration between the Ministry of Regional Development and the Association of Solid Minerals Miners and Marketers of Nigeria (ASMMMON) in order to achieve the main objectives of the blueprint through solid mineral investment, for a robust economy and national growth.
In her response, the Permanent Secretary Dr, Mary Ada Ogbe who stood in for the Honorable Minister, Ministry of Regional Development, Engr. Abubakar Momoh thanked the Leadership of the Association for the sacrifice made to achieve the content of the blueprint, pledging the full ministry support at all levels
The roadmap when fully implemented will position Nigeria among the first rated economy globally. The Nigerian Ministry of Regional Development is the federal agency tasked with formulating policies and coordinating interventions to fast-track rapid socio-economic growth across all six geopolitical zones.
